Simple Recycling
Jammy Custard was briefed with developing branding and an easily manageable E-commerce led website for start up firm Simple Recycling, a company devout to the idea of encouraging the British public to cut down the massive food waste problem. They believe this can be achieved by adopting a more noticeable and caring approach, using decor and personality-driven colours/prints along with sleek design caddys to draw attention to the product rather then repel it with dreary brown and green caddys which are hard to clean.
Branding
In a departure from the traditional greens and browns of the recycling industry, a fresh white, sky blue and orange were used to emphasise the brand’s message of acknowledgement and differentiation – a new way of thinking about the problem. This is led by the use of an ‘adorable’ face with a subtle suggestion of a recycling emblem embedded around it, polished off by a warm yet sincere rounded type-face.

E-Commerce Website
The website utilises the OpenCart system, a system we selected on the basis of the website being primarily e-commerce led. Green colours were introduced to ease navigation and flow to call-to-actions. We found the system allowed for a more visually led website with the potential to keep any core messages clear and concise through striking banner imagery and other web assets such as social media advertisements. The system has a very functional back-end to manage the site content and product range, complete with basic tooling to control stock, measure targets and customer service.

New product teaser video
In the build up to the websites launch, we produced a quick teaser video of the product and Simple’s ethos. It depicts Mable Moo, a cow-skin printed 6L Kitchen Caddy chewing on grass. This simple little video just further emphasises the brand’s position in the market place of a more tentative message.
Results
Simple Recycling had provided a tight deadline, which we happily met to ensure the output was ready in time for a 45,000 unit rollout of the caddy by Moray Council in Scotland. The website and branding were described by the council as a ‘breath of fresh air’ in the industry, with both domestic orders and further public sector supply contracts attributing the success to Simple Recycling’s new approach to recycling.
